This policy explains what Augur collects, how it's used, and what stays on your device. We've kept it short because the surface area is small.
What stays on your device
- Palm photos captured during scans. They are never uploaded.
- Birth date and onboarding selections (intent, theme, name).
- Past readings, journal entries, and your daily streak.
This data lives in the app's local SwiftData store and iOS UserDefaults. You can delete all of it by uninstalling the app.
What we send to our reading proxy
When the app generates a reading, we send a structured numerical summary of your palm (proportions, finger ratios, palm shape classification, etc.) along with your stated intent, emotional state, and a coarse "celestial signature" derived from your birth month/season. This is the minimum needed to produce a personalized reading.
We do not send: your photo, your full name, your email, your contacts, your location, or any device identifiers beyond an opaque per-install ID used for rate limiting.
Reading generation
Our reading proxy forwards the structured summary above to Anthropic, which generates the reading text. Anthropic's API receives only the data described above. The proxy logs operational metrics (latency, error rate) but not the content of requests.
Subscriptions
Augur uses RevenueCat to manage premium subscriptions on iOS. Apple processes the actual transaction. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID; we do not pass them your name, email, or birth date.
Notifications
If you grant permission for daily notifications, iOS schedules them locally — the notification payload is generated on-device, not sent from a server.
Camera
Augur requests camera access only to capture palm photos. The photos remain on your device. Vision framework processing (palm landmark detection) runs entirely on-device.
Children
Augur is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from them.
Changes
If we materially change this policy, we'll update the effective date above and surface a notice in the app.
